Steinberg's News

Hey newgrounds, I animated four old nursery rhymes, I know newgrounds is not exactly the place for this kind of stuff but I really liked the final result, considering that I made them reasonably fast and it's pretty much the best looking and cutest thing I ever animated.

Here it is guys: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/620459

Thanks :3

My hands hurt!

=(

Also, will there be a robot day this year? I was showing this to my friend and he said I should post the animation this is a part of on robot day, it's the third animation I'm doing with robots and I never remember that robot day exists...

Also, I wanted to do a Xbox One parody but I was working on this one and now is already kinda too late in internet time...

Well, that's all I have to say... Robots, dudes... Damn robots... So many of them...

Bye.

Look at how many robots I drew!

Hey newgrounds, I quit my job a while ago because, well, I was working basically the whole day and getting the equivalent of 370 dollars per month... That's a little more than minimal wage in my country, it's not a lot to be slave of work.

So, I want to know, from you guys that made it or know someone who made it, is it easy? is it possible? am I good enough? should I try pursuing it?

You know, I really like animating, and I would animate on my free time anyway, but that means I would only have time to make like two animations per year if I balance it with work, and that's not much, and I love to create, I love to tell my stories, and living off the internet is the only way for me to be fulfilled and happy, plus, being paid in dollars, wich is more valuable than our coin... I'm not a sellout or anything, I just want to turn my passion into a job. So, I'm doing it without expecting a lot, but I want to know if it's worth to pursue it or if I should get a job again, but I can assure I will do it with love anyways.

I still have to upload my newer animations on youtube, but I think this one shows the different styles I can make: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvDYrptis5E

And here a example of something scripted I did: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/595970

I know I can do better, it's just that I havent worked on my new projects yet.

Also, don't worry, I will never abandom newgrounds :)

Unfortunately I cant make a living off newgrounds as I can off youtube (I think) =\
And, you know, I have my bills to pay...

So, should I go for it? Is it doable? Am I good enough? Do I suck? =P

Sorry for my bad english and convoluted text, I'm on sleeping pills =(

Also, thanks! :)

Hey newgrounds... I've been months away... Basically because I'm a crying little baby...
I'm just writing to apologize not replying the reviews and PM's for months... I'm getting better now...
I wanted to do a halloween thingy but I don't think I'll have enough time...

In other news, I made a shitty gamegrumps animation in a day, to distract myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qonFUhkoA4g&featu re=plcp
It's too shit for newgrounds.

I'm rusty as hell, gotta get back in action soon.

Anyways... Just letting the 5 people who remembers me know I'm still here...
See ya. Thanks for being awesome as always.

Hello newgrounds, I just uploaded my latest animation!
YOU CAN WATCH IT HERE!

It features TALKING DINOSAURS!!!
I know, right? It's insane, what kind of crazy person would think of talking dinosaurs? I must be a genius!

Seriously now:

I did like, 94 percent of it in a month, and then I had to lipsync, and who doesn't love that part, right?
So basically I procrastinated for a full month until I finally decided to do it. Well I was a little busy during that month, being sick, having fever, then getting food poisoning, and then getting a fever again, it was fun, at least I have genuine excuses for half of the time I wasn't being productive.

ALSO! I want to thank everyone who auditioned, you guys are all great!

I wasn't expecting this much people interested to voice it, it was awesome, it's nice to know that even a "small fish" like me can count with so many talented people here on newgrounds, lots of the big guys on voice acting auditioned. It was all too nice! :)

I felt a little bad having to pick someone and leave other great people out. I'm not used to deal with auditions and casting and pickings, so it was really hard.

While I was listening to some of the auditions, I started to think "oh wow, his voice is perfect for that character in that other script I have", so I'll sure PM a lot of you guys soon for my next things, if that's ok.
:3

I also want to thank Shock-Dingo, who made an excellent job! Rex and Paul's voices were just what I had in mind and he was very nice and attentive.

Also, I finally figured out a way to convert flash to full HD without losing frames, without lag and without having to get a specialized expensive software that I couldn't assure would work properly (I considered buying adshareit flash to video, but had no money), plus my "method" works with movie clips, V-Cams, etc, and the audio stays in sync. It also can make your penis bigger.
I saw lots of people having trouble with that (the flash issue, not the penis), so if anyone is interested I can make my next post as a tutorial explaining it (You're still going to need after effects OR premiere to do the trick, but I guess most people have those already, so why buy a new software?)

Well, anyway, watch my thing!
A comment/review would be appreciated.

Thanks! :)

Hey Newgrounds, I wrote a little thing that needed only two voices, with the intention of voicing myself, but I CAN'T, I'm terrible!

I am going to need two voices, one for Paul, the small, annoying dinosaur, and another for Rex (yes, very creative) the pissed off t-Rex. I know you ever wanted to voice a dinosaur, so it's your chance.

I will work hard on the animation and actually make animatics this time, so expect the quality to be better than my other works. I believe the script have great potential, but it depends a lot on the voices themselves, for that reason I simply can't put my dumb voice in it.

I don't know if I should make my script public or not because I never asked for voice actors here, not sure how it works.

Well, PM me I guess, and I will send you the script.

Thank you all.

EDIT:

MAN! I wasn't expecting this many people interested, never saw so much movement in my inbox, it's gonna be hard work having to pick the best one, and also pretty harsh having to say no to the ones that I won't use, specially because everyone is so talented. Thank you all for now.

EDIT:

Shockdingo got both parts.

I received lots of good auditions, but Shockdingo was the one that was closer to what I intended, there were a few ones that had voices fitting for other characters on other scripts of mine, so I'll keep you all in mind on the future

Thanks everyone!

Hey everyone, I have reasons to believe that Mario Vs. Yoshi is stolen.

Well, to begin with, the creator have just made his account and of the four submissions he have, one is a poorly animated American flag, another is a loop of a TBBT clip, both don't require any animation skills and anyone who had saw his account before today would believe he can't animate.

Also, there is a game in his account, where it says "2003 GameRival", and first of all, why would he upload a 2003 game in 2012? Of course he could do that, but considering this guy's writing skills, I really doubt he had any more than 7 years in 2003, so it's not likely he was able to pull off a game like that.
Specially because he uploaded another GAME that is actually an ANIMATION of a looping flag, why would he do that?
Also notice that the medals in the Tower Blaster game DO NOT work, why not? Well because he would need the original file to implement the medals into the code, so it would interact with the portal, but that doesn't happen, because he doesn't have the original .FLA file, simple like that.

Now, other thing that looks VERY, VERY amateurish is the thumbnail for the video, anyone would use an actual scene from the flash, and not THE FOURTH THING YOU FIND ON GOOGLE IMAGES WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR "Mario Vs. Yoshi"

About his user image, it was done by NINTENDRAWER at DeviantArt:
http://nintendrawer.deviantart.com/art/mario-and -peach-114260764
Why wouldn't he draw his own user image if he had all that skill for animation?
Also notice how he cuts the image over the watermark.
I found it searching for "Mario loves Peach" on Google images, it is the fifth image.
Also he isn't Nintendrawer! He would have that animation at his DeviantArt account if he was. And Nintendrawer have proper English skills.

Now, where would he have gotten the animation?

HERE: http://dagobah.net/flash/Super_Mario_vs_Yoshi.sw f

Look at the comments, one was made January third, and the other February second, that means after that time ANYONE could get it and upload it to newgrounds pretending it is their own, and no surprise someone did in such short period of time, it doesn't have credits or preloader after all, why not have a preloader in newgrounds? That's also rare.

Here's another site with the same animation: http://swfchan.com/17/84896/
notice how it says it was there since 2010. Again, even if it is possible to upload after so many years, it doesn't usually happen.

And what is that badly cut montage with Luigi with a hat in his profile?
And why is it rated M and have so many people credited with him? And notice how MarioKirbyLink100 who is co-authored had the same behavior of putting a short animation (pretty bad by the way, rated 1 star) as a game with medals that you can't get.

Even the flash's short description is absurd:"Now there fighting who will win"
Really?

Just look at the size of this text, I wouldn't make all that up, there are lots of reasons for me to believe he stole it, and his behavior is very similar to lots of fake profiles I've seen.

So, my reasons are:

He submitted something horrible in a week, and something amazing in the next one, as if he got good all of a sudden.
The game he uploaded says "2003 GameRival", a website that I never saw uploading anything to newgrounds, and uploading it 9 years later is very odd!
His user icon wasn't done by himself.
The original animation is around at least since 2010, as you can see in the link I provided.
The medals on his game don't work, as if he was trying to put them just as cover.
The image in his news post is absurdly bad for someone who supposedly can make something as amazing as that animation.
The flash has no proper thumbnail, instead, it have something I found pretty fast at Google and have Mario from Super Mario Sunshine, which makes no sense and resembles all those amateur animations made with only pictures.
His co-authoring makes no sense and his friends are equally bad.
His other submissions are garbage.

If CazaZach is actually the author, then I apologize for all this.

EDIT: Apparently it was made by DogmanSP at DeviantArt, someone who have decent grammar: http://dogmansp.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=7 2#/d26k2ni
END OF EDIT.

EDIT:

The submission was removed.

CASE CLOSED!
You can hire me as a private detective if you want.

It's a while since I had front-page posts abilities and I decided I could contribute with something that you may think is interesting or helpful.

So, here's something that helps me getting things done and may be useful for you all... I don't really know if this is well known or not, some of you may know it but whatever, I just decided to make a post to it to discuss and maybe introduce the rule to some people.

Basically, there is a thing called the 80/20 rule, and it says that most of your work comes from twenty percent of your productivity... You take twenty percent of your time, doing eighty percent of the work.

It basically means that you take more time polishing whatever you do, or in the case of animators, you take more time making every single line super smooth, than doing the actual raw work, it also counts for the time you spend procrastinating.

In animation, sometimes the timing and overall scripts are far more important than the actual animation, but animating takes a lot more of your time, and the polishing takes time but it's not always needed, you could use the saved time to work on another project. See "South Park" for instance, it's pretty simple but delivers, just like "The Life and Times of Tim" where they put more effort into writing, which is more important in those cases. (Of course there are animations that are just eye candy but that's another case. This example applies only for things with scripts)

But before you stone me to death thinking I'm defending taking shortcuts or farting out half assed unpolished projects like a maniac, I'm not, this is just an example of how some things are more important in some cases and needs more attention. By any means, don't take shortcuts, we should always try to improve our work in all ways possible. But this rule can be applied differently.

For instance, when I was at school, all my homework was done in the last awake hour of the previous day, I always rushed through it and ended up having a decent grade, but in cases where I needed to get A+, I had to waste a LOT more hours into it, but since I had the barebones of my work already done, it was much more easy and satisfying, I took more time doing that parts but my brain could relax a little because the important was done. Also, you can select what projects are more important to you using this rule.

So, that rule can be applied and it doesn't mean you will be taking shortcuts... At least for me, the harder part is to start something, but usually when I start, I keep going until I finish, and that rule helps me giving my initial boost, the 80 percent is more like repetitive work, you know, inbetweens, polishing, and can be done with relaxing music since you don't need to use your brain that much, I know that after I do the storyboard and writing I will have almost everything important done, but still will have a lot of work time ahead, at least it won't be that painful.
It is that little small burst of 20 percent of your energy that you need to get things in the right path and actually finish something good.

Also, if you keep in mind that your procrastination is included in the 80 percent part, you will procrastinate less and less.

I can't be clearer about it because my English is not that great, I hope it's not too confusing... I was wanting to post something useful in the frontpage for a while, I hope this is good enough and you won't disregard it because I'm unknown or something. Also I didn't want to make it too extense, but a quick google search can make the subject clearer for those interested.

So basically, stop being a lazyass, make a storyboard or animatic, write the script, the first step is always harder... With the bones of the project up, the rest will come easier.

Of course this is not a fail-proof thing and may vary or not work at all with you, but I just wanted to share this technique that may help someone someday.

That said, the title of this post is productivity TRICKS, so, Lemme know what you think or if there are productivity tricks that you use and would like to share.
